good week

I am trying to be good and post at least once a week. So far, no luck with that, but I am still trying. I think I just lead a very boring life. But I need to document things somewhere or I will never remember them. It was a good week for both of the boys. Patrick found out on Wednesday that he was accepted into NJHS. He was so proud and excited. He had been worrying for the past week that he wouldn't get in because he didn't do enough community service. But he is well liked by the staff at LMMS and he is an active little guy. I think he was a shoo-in. Then on Thursday, he got a letter telling him that he was also accepted into Who's Who Among Middle School Students. This was more exciting to him because it is an honor that his older brother never received. It's all about one-upmanship in this house. Is it always that way with boys? In any case, we are really proud of him. He marches to the beat of his own drum and we are never quite sure what is going on with him. It is nice to see his accomplishments recognized.
Matt also had a major success this week. He has been struggling with track the past few weeks. He seemed to develop a mental block to the 110 High Hurdles. He decided that the 8th hurdle was cursed and started stutter stepping it in every race. It was really upsetting him and making his coach angry. But he still managed to qulaify for leagues with a seed of 18 out of 24. At the meet he cleared them all beautifully and ran a great time...16.2 seconds, which was his P.R. He finished 9th overall and was really happy. He also placed above his seed in the 300 IMs and set a P.R. there as well. But his big excitement is that he qualified for districts. He did not expect that to happen in his first year. After being cut from soccer and basketball, he really needed a success in sports and this is doing great things for his ego.
