The End is Near

Summer is almost over. This is it..our last week of freedom. I am in panic mode, trying to accomplish all of the things I should have been doing all summer long, but put off until today. Closets, cabinets, basement, garage....yuck! Oh, yeah, and that 15 pounds I was going to lose over the summer. Well, that never happened! Fall could be a little easier this year. Matt did not make his high school soccer team this year. It was kind of heartbreaking. He made it last year when the competition was tougher, but the new coach was just not looking for Matt's style of play. He is kind of lost right now, since it is the first fall in 11 years that he isn't playing. I'm sure that he will find something to fill his days though. Pat is not sure if he is ready to go back. SOme days he is and others he wants no parts of school. I think he enjoys being able to do absolutely nothing! And who could balme him?

Summertime Blues

I love summer. I love being off school and having absolutely no real schedule for the day. I love staying up late and sleeping in, and eating lunch whenever we want. But I hate August. August means that school is just around the corner. I can't believe that it is August 1st already. I haven't accomplished any of my major projects. I have only cleaned the junk drawer and one cabinet. That is not any real accomplishment. Now I feel like I need to get my butt in gear and accomplish stuff.
Matt's summer is effectively over in two weeks. Soccer tryouts begin on August 15. That means double sessions every day until school starts. And every day between now and then needs to be spent running and lifting to make up for all he didn't do the last two months. Patrick has 4 weeks left, but his remaining weeks will consist of appointments. Dentist, orthodontist, eye doctor, dermatologist, trainer.....Yuck! And that means my remaining days will be spent driving them and nagging them to finish their summer reading.
Oh, I really hate August!
