Goodbye, Little Boy

Tomorrow I have to say goodbye to my little guy. He won't be a little boy anymore. He is turning 13 and I am hating it. I have hated all of the milestones with him. He wasn't supposed to be the last one. I always thought that some day we would have a third child. But I still held a little tighter to him, just in case. He was our baby and will always be the baby at this point. And I hate how quickly he is growing up. I want him to still be a little boy for awhile longer... still cuddly and loving and still thinking his parents are great. Instead we are heading into round 2 of the Hellish Teenage Years. Mood swings, hormones, broken hearts... all the things we have been doing for the past 4 years with his brother. Well, I guess there are good things too, so bring it on! As long as I still get an occasional hug and cuddle.

let the countdown begin

Two weeks from today I will be sitting on a beach in Aruba. Ok, maybe not. I might be screaming as our extreme Jeep tour takes me along cliffs, etc. In any case, I will be in Aruba. I am looking forward to getting away. It will be nice to have some time with Randy and the boys without the everyday stress. It will be nice to hang with his parents and some of our friends who will be going. His parents have travelled a lot, but never to the Caribbean, so it will be fun to see what they think of it. We love the islands so much, but they're not for everyone. But anyway, I digress...there is so much to do to get ready for the last minute stuff. Packing, shopping, figuring out clothes, stopping mail, arranging for someone to care for Stitch and water the plants. Tons o' fun. But I have to admit that I enjoy it. Well, I enjoy most of it, but not the trying on swimsuits, etc. I really hate that. So the countdown begins...11 days until we fly to San Juan! Yippee!

Last Day of School

It's officially over. Woo Hoo! Doing a happy dance here as I type. Actually, I was done on Monday, but the boys finished up today. Matt just drove in to hand in some books he still had and check his grades and was home by 8:15. Patrick was in until 11, when I picked him and two friends up to go to Applebees for lunch. I can't believe that I am now the mom of a junior in high school and an 8th grader. One more year and my baby will be in high school. I'm not sure how I will feel when I have two of them stopping by my room all the time.
So now the vaction countdown begins. We leave for Puerto Rico in 9 days. I have my packing lists typed in the computer, but no actually packing done. I booked all of our excursions and have the tuxedos rented for the guys. I am really looking forward to this trip. We will be seeing 3 islands that we have never been to and I am in desperate need of sunshine and a laid back island groove.
And on that note....let the summer begin!
